Traditional 2D
Animation began 100 years ago as a series of drawings played back in sequence. These drawings were drawn on physical media and printed onto film which was then used in movie projection. Today, traditional animation implies that every frame is still being drawn manually, but techniques are digital.
Rigged Animation
Puppet, or rigged animation, involves a single drawing of a character or person that is composed of parts and each part can be posed, much like a marionette. More advanced puppet animation, such as we do at Pencil Gator, allows for interpolation, weight, and stitching so the movement is seamless and organic.
Motion Graphics
Motion Graphics is a form of animation that involves a series of drawings that can be moved and transformed with layers and effects. It is not usually representational of characters in live action, but is a great choice for communications and training in business.
3D Animation
3D animation is a mathematically-modeled simulation of a real character or scene, and represents considerable sophistication today. Pencil Gator provides 3D animation services and also uses 3D animation techniques to improve the quality of our traditional animation.
Pop & Swap
Pop & Swap is a form of animation that involves a hybrid between Puppet animation and Motion Graphics that abstracts characters and suggests motion and emotion. It is suitable for storytelling but is abstract. It is the lowest cost-per-second of the different animation styles.
